How do doctors test for worms and what is causing blood in your stools?

April 13th, 2010 | by admin |

Okay i need to go to the doctors as i think i have worms and have found blood in my stool. How exactly will he/she test for these to things? Thanks.

Spellings bad. Sorry.

An occult blood test is done on stool to detect blood. The test is done on stool so you don’t have to get any shots or anything.

He would probably know if you had worms just by looking at your backside, you may have a rash and or itching

Stool sample maybe? Or you could just take your "evidence" to the doctors with you.

ok you have 5 different types of white blood cells in your blood stream, there is one type called "eosinophils" and they attack against parasites. so if they test your blood and they see alot of eosinophils its probably because you have a parasite.

if you have been constipated lately it can cause blood in your stool also. so i think you should wait until it gets worse or if it goes away.

This is really two different questions.

To check for worms, my guess is that they simply take a fresh stool sample, examine it under a microscope, and look for things (worms) wriggling around.

The blood-in-the-stool issue is more complicated, as there can be many causes. A not-so-bad cause would be dehydration, causing harder stools, which can cause tearing on the way out, and hence bleeding. A really-bad cause would be colon cancer. There are other possible causes as well. To check things out, a competent doctor will order a sigmoidoscopy (that may be spelled wrong, but it’s close), which involves running a flexible tube up through the rectum, into the large intestine. The tube has a camera at the end, and the doctor watches what the camera sees on a computer monitor, looking for polyps or other evidence of cancer. It is NOT a pleasant procedure — but it can save your life, so don’t back out.

I do a parasite cleanse about twice a year with black walnut hull, clove, and wormwood. Each time I have done a cleanse I have passed parasite matter in bowel movements.

A large % of people have them as they can be passed on from the food you eat,the air you breath, and the things you touch.

I grew up on a farm and had them all the time growing up..and have also had them as an adult.

    * One good thing to do is to stay away from pork( animal that by far carries the most parasites). A pig will eat any thing and everything in its sight. I stopped eating any kind of pork related product about 12 years ago. There has been a few times that I have ate some pork products with out knowing. I get VERY sick!

The doctor will take a stool sample from you and test it for any type of parasite.
Sometimes, having parasites causes blood in the stools.
But, you should have a stool occult test which tests for blood in your stools.
