Acne refers to plugged pores, pimples, cysts and nodules that occur on the face, neck, chest, back, shoulders, upper arms and upper legs, according to the dermatology academy.

While acne isn’t life-threatening, it is disfiguring, can lead to permanent scarring, and is an emotional and social burden.

Acne is caused by changes in hormones, heredity and skin type. Hormones that cause physical maturation also cause sebaceous glands of the skin to produce more sebum, or oil. Male hormones have a greater effect on sebaceous glands than female hormones.

During puberty, the cells of the skin that line sebaceous follicles (the glands with a hair shaft) shed more rapidly. When the cells mix with the increased sebum, they can plug the opening of the follicle and the follicle swells with sebum.

When the skin bacteria called P. acnes multiplies in the clogged hair follicle, the skin becomes inflamed. Sometimes, inflammation spreads to surrounding skin, forming blackheads, pimples and nodules.

Teenagers with parents or a parent who had acne are more likely to get acne themselves. In addition, teens with oily skin have a greater risk of acne than teens with drier skin.

Types of acne

When the plugged follicle (called a comedo) is open, it is called a blackhead. When it’s closed, it’s called a whitehead.

Papules and pustules are commonly called pimples. A papule is a cellular reaction to acne, resulting in small, slightly elevated solid lesions. A pustule is a dome-shaped lesion containing pus.

A macule is the temporary red spot left by a healed acne lesion.

A nodule is a solid lesion that is inflamed, extends into deeper layers of the skin, is painful, and may cause tissue destruction resulting in scarring.

A cyst is a large pustule that is inflamed, extends into deeper layers of the skin, is painful and can result in scarring.

When patients suffer from acne, they are recommended to use a mild cleanser. An inexpensive, non-drying soap used daily is the best way to clean the face. doctors tell them not to scrub their skin and to avoid harsh cleansers. Most “acne soaps” contain salicylic acid, which can be drying to the skin and can make inflammation worse, especially when combined with medication. Many patients discontinue medical treatment, not realizing it is the soap that is causing irritation.

Patients also give up on using medications because it generally takes at least four to six weeks for them to take effect. It is important for teenagers to understand that their skin may get worse before it gets better. Encourage your teen to “hang in there” and use medicines as prescribed. If skin becomes too dry, it is best to try a non-comedogenic moisturizer, that is, one that does not block pores. Neutrogena and Cetaphil products are quite good, but one can also look for “non-comedogenic” on the label of your preferred moisturizer. Also, one should ask his or her doctor if medication can be taken every other day.

For mild acne, topical antibiotics such as keratolytic are usually prescribed. A keratolytic is an agent that decreases the shedding of skin cells that causes comedones to form. One that is available over-the-counter is benzoyl peroxide. It is available in several strengths (2.5% to 10%), so use the lowest strength that is effective. This medicine also comes in a prescription body wash, which is great for treating larger areas such as the back or chest. Other keratolytics include adapalene and topical tretinoin. These are available by prescription in varying strengths and vehicles such as creams and gels.

If acne becomes more red or inflamed, a topical antibiotic such as clindamycin or erythromycin may be added to treatment. These agents will reduce the amount of pimples on the skin’s surface and decrease inflammation. Many topical antibiotics now come formulated with benzoyl peroxide. Creams or gels with this additive can be used once a day and have been shown to decrease bacterial resistance to the antibiotic.

If acne is cystic, most doctors will recommend an oral antibiotic. The most common include doxycycline, minocycline or erythromycin. An eight-to-12-week course of treatment is recommended for maximum benefit.

Because hormonal changes continue into adulthood, that may impact acne. For example, ovarian cysts and pregnancy may cause hormone changes that lead to acne. And some women get acne when they discontinue birth control pills because those pills help keep acne under control.

Acne that appears for the first time in adulthood should be checked by a doctor. Some drugs and industrial chemicals may induce skin problems. Chronic pressure on the skin – by backpack straps or a violin tucked under the chin, for example – may induce a form of acne.

Patients suffering from severe acne should visit a dermatologist, who will most likely prescribe a course of oral isotretinoin, a more serious medication. Be advised that pregnant women should never take isotretinion.

Earth Shoes is a shoe company that was started by the Kalso family in Minneapolis, Minnesota, back in the early seventies. Earth Shoes was established at a time when the company was designing and manufacturing for other well-known brands. After an absence of many years from the market it was recently re-launched and the famous “3.7 degrees” is back with a bang.

Since its return to the market, the company has expanded considerably, and these days you’ll find Earth Shoes just about anywhere on the planet. The only thing different from the original “hippy-style” shoe is that a whole new range of footwear was designed and made available to suit changing times and trends.

To keep up with increasing demand, the owners employ many manufacturing companies to do the work. One of the main and most probably the largest factory outlets is in mainland China. Regular contact and communication with these companies ensures that the final product has the quality and style that Earth Shoes is renowned for.

What is “Negative Heel Technology” all about?

“Negative Heel Technology” is basically about the angle at which the front part of the foot is higher than that of the heels. To be precise, it is exactly 3.7 degrees higher. When the shoe was designed, Anne Kalso was not only focusing on comfort and style but on improving the posture as well while the shoe is worn. Bearing in mind that she was at the time also a Yoga instructor, it is not difficult to deduce where the idea came from! Holding the correct posture is of primary importance for the Yoga instructor. Once it is in place and is held there it is not long before an improved noticeable difference is detected in bodily functions. Her idea to incorporate a yoga position into a shoe design has certainly paid off. Well being, health and comfort for her fellow human beings are the primary concerns for this remarkable woman, and she has achieved her aims with great success.

The design of the Earth Shoe allows the heel to dig back while the front is lifted and relaxed. The toes are also comfortably spread. The spine automatically straightens and the stomach muscles pull tight; breathing improves as the head is held straight and the shoulders roll back. Headaches start to decrease and slouching also becomes a thing of the past. Thus it eliminates back pain or any prospects of it. Walking at that angle is similar to walking in thick sand. The calves and thighs get a gentle workout as well. This greatly improves the prospects of ending up with a shapely pair of legs. A better functioning body definitely has a positive effect on the mind as well.

For some people slipping into a pair of Earth shoes will pose no problem. However those that are accustomed to high heels might find it a bit difficult at first to get used to the feet being in the opposite angle. This however depends entirely upon the individual. Exercises usually do the trick otherwise professional medical advice is recommended for those with problem or deformed feet.

The designers of Earth Shoes make use of various professionals, including a podiatrist, chiropractor and biomechanics specialist, to create the ultimate shoe for comfort, health and style. The 3.7 degree negative heel technology is applied to every single pair of Earth Shoes made.

New technology has made some types of Earth Shoes even better, with a special type of gel, called Gelron 2000, placed in the entire foot bed of the shoe. To complement it all, the design also includes arch support in all the right places. This makes it the ideal shoe for pregnant women or anyone who is carrying some extra weight and would prefer a more supportive shoe.

The gel allows the foot to mold into a perfect fit and this lends added comfort. With the gel creating a gentle massage effect the result is that tired, aching feet become a thing of the past. Those who are constantly on their feet for long hours will find this an incredible blessing as the tiredness will be drastically reduced.

Where can you find them?

Earth Shoes has designed shoes that are appropriate for all types of physical activities and exercises. They are hardwearing and relatively cheaper than other similar designer claims. The range of styles also seems to be more diverse as well as very up to date and attractive.

There are many stores that stock Earth Shoes and are therefore quite easy to obtain in the United States. Because of its increasing popularity worldwide it has become available almost everywhere. If there are any difficulties found in obtaining a pair they can always be ordered online.

As a plus-size woman, I’ve gone through a real journey to discover and claim my own beauty, which I think is okay, since even Oprah Winfrey seems to struggle with that same issue — and hey, she’s OPRAH for heaven’s sake. But when I look back, it was really a situation that began, and ended, with me. First of all, other people always thought I was pretty (and I don’t just mean my mom!). And except for the once-in-a-blue-moon comment about my weight, I was often complimented on my beautiful face, great complexion, and fun and friendly disposition. In the end, I had to admit that it was something inside of me that held back and refused to see the incredible woman I was – inside AND out.

In a nutshell, the problem was that I was eternally “on hold” — deep inside, I always thought that I would only “really” be attractive to other people after I lost weight. And following along that line of thinking, I simply put a lot of my life on hold. Every year, I thought that when I lost weight, I could finally go swimming or take a great tropical vacation (and so most years, I didn’t even buy a swimsuit). I thought that when I lost weight I would wear shorts and have a variety of tank tops (and so I suffered through endless hazy summer days in black leggings or long skirts and hid myself beneath button down tops, or maybe I’d risk a short-sleeve tee). And I ALWAYS thought that when I lost weight, I would buy new clothes. (So I rarely enjoyed a beautiful new dress and didn’t even daydream of a closet full of great choices.)

Thankfully, over time, that has all changed. Part of it has been a much improved level of self-confidence and self-acceptance. Like may women, I AM always working on my weight — I try to make healthy choices and eat right, and I walk every single day — and I remind myself that I have gained very little over my adult life — my set point is simply a gorgeous size 18. I also remind myself that feeling beautiful is a struggle that many women face, regardless of their size. So over time, I grew some gratitude to go along with my knowledge that I was a beautiful woman.

With that newfound self-confidence in place, it made room for the other part of my self-discovery – fueled by the full figured fashion world. Plus-size women have definitely had a terrific revolution in the clothing industry over the last decade. Gone are your mother’s muumuus and style-deprived, depressing wardrobes of black and more black.

Today, my closets and drawer are a trip through designer fashions and a skip down style street! And this is in no small part due to full figured, powerful, gorgeous celebrities like Oprah Winfrey and Queen Latifah. So now, in the summertime, I have no less than three plus-size swimsuits (one of them, a two-piece fuscia tankini with a great lace sarong). And I take them on fabulous island vacations all over the globe. I also have a rainbow of plus-size capris in every shade of the rainbow to pack in my suitcase and a drawer full of beautiful plus-size camisole tops to go with them.

In the winter, every day I get to choose from a different plus-size top and stylish pants or a great looking split skirt and silk blouse to go with it – and of course, some fabulous accessories to compliment it all (a MUST have for the full-figured woman’s business wardrobe).

My point is this – while I may always be working on my weight and chasing better health (and hey, who isn’t), I know that looking great is a BIG part of feeling great. And that’s an accessory we ALL deserve!

Learn this hot sex trick that’s thousands of years old for better sex and better health.

You constantly see headlines on magazine racks touting some new sex trick. There are no new sex tricks. Just old ones that have been rediscovered and renamed. One of the best “sex tricks” for women of any age is the vaginal squeeze or The Velvet Grip Technique.

It has many different names in different cultures and countries. In India it is called the pompoir. The Toaist call it “Holding Firm”. The Arabic word for it is the Kabbazah (to clasp). In the Far East it is known as the Singapore Kiss. I call it the The Velvet Grip Technique.

They all refer to a woman developing strength and control of her vaginal muscles. Having strong vaginal and pelvic floor muscles has many benefits. Regular exercise (daily) of the PC muscle and surrounding pelvic muscles increases blood flow and nerve connections. This leads to not only improved sexual health it also expands the level of sexual enjoyment for both the woman and her male partner.

Regular vaginal training increases a woman’s orgasm frequency, intensity and variety. For most women orgasm is centered in the clitoris. But with proper exercise not only does her clitoral orgasm improve; she develops the ability to experience vaginal orgasms and ejaculating orgasms.

Women who consistently exercise and practice expand not only their own orgasmic abilities; they can also greatly increase the pleasure of their male partner. Strength and control of the vaginal muscles allow her to squeeze and hold an inserted penis of any size. For women with strong and healthy vaginal muscles, male penis size really doesn’t matter.

Some may think that exercising the vaginal muscles are only for women who have given birth or have incontinence concerns. This is not true at all. In many cultures developing vaginal strength and control is important pre-wife training: ‘She must close and constrict the vagina until it holds the penis…to act as the hand of the Gopala girl who milks the cow. If she does this, her husband will value her above all women, nor would he exchange her for the most beautiful queen in the Three Worlds.’

In cultures where vaginal training is encouraged the women learn to firmly grip the penis in their vagina then contract the muscles to provide a milking sensation. Men, who are fortunate enough to have such a woman, say the sensation of penile milking with a strong vagina is the ultimate sexual experience-and they prefer it over oral stimulation.

In addition to improving clitoral orgasm experiences, pelvic exercise increases the likelihood for vaginal, multiple and whole-body orgasms. This includes female ejaculation or “squirting” orgasms. It is also believed to help PMS, irregular menstruation, ovarian cysts, fibroids, incontinence, increase fertility, and more.

No matter what your age or circumstance, newly married or soon to be, a new mother or empty nester, in your fertile years or into menopause; every woman can benefit by starting a pelvic fitness program today.

Ovarian cysts usually appear in younger women, on one ovary or on both ovaries, but they can appear after the menopause as well. It is known that most of the cysts are benign, and have a low risk to turn into cancer. Although in the past the solution was surgery to remove the cyst, nowadays, in most of the cases monitoring of the cyst, using ultrasound scan and blood tests is possible.

It is known that the CA125 protein which can be found normally in the blood has an increased level in women with ovarian cancer. That’s why, the doctors may want to measure the level of CA125 in the blood if it is suspected a woman has ovarian cancer. But, it was seen that the level of CA125 can rise because of other factors too, like inflammation of the liver, pregnancy, pelvic or abdominal infection, and endometriosis.

When treating women past their menopause who have ovarian cysts, doctors are advised to monitor these women using the ultrasound scan and the CA125 test. However, this can vary, depending on the size of the cysts, what they look like on a scan and how they behave over time.

It is known that if there are present small cysts on one ovary, more than half of these cysts will disappear on their own in about 3 months. It is recommended that at 4 months after the cysts disappeared an ultrasound scan to be performed.

The peritoneum is a sheet of body tissue that lines the inside of the abdomen. It helps to protect the contents of the abdomen, and also produces a lubricating fluid that helps the organs to move smoothly inside the abdomen as we move around. When there appears a cancer of this tissue, we say we are dealing with primary peritoneal carcinoma.

It was seen that the primary peritoneal cancer behaves like the epithelial cancer, the most common type of ovarian cancer, that’s why, the treatment is very similar.

Especially when this disease is in its early stages, the symptoms are vague and hard to spot, and many of the symptoms are very similar to other conditions, which are much more common. It is important to know that this type of cancer can appear even if the ovaries were removed.

It is necessary for every woman to go periodically to the doctor and do tests, because in early stages of the disease the treatment is more effective.

I have very sore breast (2 weeks) , very emotional, very bloated, and very specific cravings. I have taken 2 pregnancy test and both were negative. My periods are never regular and my doctor really doesn’t have too much to day. What is going on with me, is this menopause? I am only 29
ha ha ha, nice luke i don’t think so

What makes you think this is menopause? It sounds like normal irregular cycles to me. Your menstrual cycle is hugely complicated, the slightest imbalance can throw everything off so it’s normally not a sign of a problem, but just in case see a doctor to rule out more serious issues – yes doctors are usually useless as they are used to dealing with all problems by handing out the pill, but demand real help. As a note on something that comes up often, contrary to popular belief the pill doesn’t regulate cycles, it suppresses cycles which forces periods into a pattern, often the pill is used as a quick-fix rather than run tests or offer treatment options, so the pill can cover up more serious issues, it also prevents you using cycle changes to judge fertility and determine sexual health problems, also you may face side-effects. You may want to consider the pill or menstrual management, but rule out serious issues first and know your other treatment options.

As self-help look into Fertility Awareness Method, tracking cycle changes this way has life-long benefits as birth control, to aid in conception, and gives a better understanding of your sexual health. In your case it will help you determine when your period will turn up, and you will see if there are any serious issues so this will save testing and put you in control of your healthcare. http://www.tcoyf.com The psyche can have a profound effect on menstrual cycles, if you have problems in your life address them and look at your attitude towards menstruation, learning about menstruation can have a huge effect on health. Menstrual problems are often exacerbated when you internalise conflicting signals from society about yourself, your body, menstruation or sexuality. Take evening primrose oil or black cohosh capsules daily to help regulate your hormones, these can be bought from most supermarkets and health stores without costing too much. If you suffer cramps try using clary sage, this is an oil you massage into your stomach which can be bought at health or specialist stores. As well as working better and faster than painkillers clary sage supports estrogen production and acts on the pituitary gland to help regulate menstrual problems.

Honestly, most women can easily deal with all of these problems with things as easy as diet changes or herbal treatments, it’s just that most women don’t know how and don’t think to find out! You need to take control of your own sexual/menstrual health as many doctors are really quite clueless (I spead from both personal and proffessional experience!), try FAM to find out if there are any underlying problems rather than waiting for your doctor to do something and look into treatment options yourself.

What am i suposed to expect when i go to the gynecologist for the first time? What do they do?

Well they will have you undress (mine had me get completely naked because I also got a breast exam.) They will have you put your feet up in stirrups. They will put in a couple fingers to feel if everything is normal. They will take a little tool called a speculum (sp?) and they open it slowly and them through that they take a swab of your uterus with a long q-tip. You dont even feel it. They also use a lot of "lube" so that it is as comfortable for you as possible.

Just tell them that this is your first time and that you are a little nervous. They will explain everything that they are going to do. Also try to relax because tensing up will just make it hurt. And dont be embarrased, they do this all the time. Just try to take deep breaths and look at the ceiling. It goes by fast.

Good luck

Are products like this carcinogenic?

If so, can anyone suggest a non-harmful way (i.e. non-harmful products) of keeping things clean and shiny without risking my family’s health?

Are there any websites i can visit to find out more?
Veg Rose, i am not being fussy, just asking a question. I just want to know if what i am doing is wrong and if so, what can I do instead. I dont consider it fussy to look after my family’s health lol

Use lemon juice or vinegar. If you are really worried, write to the manufacturer and ask for a safety data sheet; under the CoSHH and the CHIP regulations, they must supply one if requested.

All over the world, one of the most common forms of violence against women is abuse by their husbands. It is often referred to as “wife-beating,” “battering,” “partner abuse,” “domestic violence” or, in a broader and technical sense, “gender-based violence.” In nearly 50 population-based surveys from all over the world, it has been found that 10% to over 50% of women report being hit or otherwise physically harmed by their husbands at some phase in their lives. It is understood that these data are under-reported.

Most surprisingly, in advanced countries like USA, a woman is beaten every 15 seconds! It is sad to note that many women live in constant fear of battering in a place where they should feel safe and secure – their own home. Who is responsible for this situation? What drives a man to be so cruel to the woman he is expected to love? What are the various ways to tackle this problem? Here are some issues related to wife-beating and ways to deal with it.

Unfortunately, many women feel that battering is acceptable, but only within limits. These limits are set by themselves and vary from individual to individual. However, if one man’s violence is less frequent than another’s, it doesn’t make him excusable. There is simply no such thing as “acceptable” battering.

Some women continue to tolerate battering throughout their lives and never tell anybody about it. Even those who resist often complain about it to family members, then to friends, and finally decide to take help from the police. The proportion of women who take extreme steps like going to the police or leaving their husbands is extremely small.

The reasons behind this include fear of retaliation, lack of other means of financial and social support, concern for children, emotional dependence, lack of help from family and friends, and hope that “he will change.” Shame is another cause for a woman not disclosing a battering. She thinks that there are only a few unfortunate people who live like this and it would be too embarrassing to tell this incidence to somebody. She also fears loss of respect among the family, especially from younger ones, or that family members and friends will make fun of her.

LAST STEP

Despite the obstacles, many women eventually do leave their violent husbands – sooner or later. Younger women are more likely to leave sooner. But things are not as easy as they look. It reminds one of the story of Stephanie, whose husband Tim used to beat her very badly for many years. She explained, “Every time it happens, he says sorry, he will never do it again.” Her face etched with anxiety as she continued, “I keep thinking that this time he will change.” But Stephanie was wrong.

So she finally decided to leave Tim and lodged a complaint with the police against him. Tim simply denied the charges of wife-beating with such statements as, “she is excitable” and “she tends to overreact.” And the role of the police was negotiating between them rather than prosecuting Tim! Then came the pressure from parents, other family members and friends to negotiate and compromise. Stephanie thought, “Why should a woman compromise for a thing in which she is not at all guilty? In such an atmosphere how can a woman live a respectful life and feel safe and secure?”

Despite all the pressure, she finally decided to leave Tim and started her own independent life. Fortunately, they had no children. Stephanie was well educated; so she got a nice job. But what about millions of women living for the sake of their children or for other reasons with their husbands?

Most husbands, like Tim, do no accept the charges of battering. Men also take advantage of social norms. Once the marriage takes place parents of a daughter simply wash their hands off her. They are often reluctant to allow their daughters to return home for fear of social ostracism.

Even police authorities acknowledge that they try to settle such cases before lodging the complaint. Karen also faced a similar problem. She points out, “One often feels like running away from it all. But where does one go? The only place is your parents’ house, but they will also try to send you back.”

ILL- EFFECT ON CHILDREN

The conflict between the parents and wife-beating adversely affects their children’s mental growth and development. They often suffer from such emotional and behavioural problems as anxiety, depression, poor school performance, low self-esteem, disobedience, nightmares and various physical health complaints.

Such children are more likely to act aggressively during their childhood and adolescence.

In a study, it was found that children of battered women were more than twice as likely as other children to suffer from learning, emotional and behavioural problems.

Another study found that women who had been beaten were significantly more likely to have an infant death or pregnancy loss through abortion, miscarriage or stillbirth.

There are economic and social consequences of battering also. By sapping a woman’s energy, undermining her confidence, and compromising her health, battering deprives society of a woman’s full participation, which undermines the economic well-being of families. Women cannot contribute their labour or creative ideas fully if they are burdened with physical or psychological assault.

One study showed that women with histories of domestic violence were more likely to have spells of unemployment, to have a greater job-turnover, and to suffer more physical and mental health problems that could affect their job performance. Also, battering increases the use of medical and community resources and support, and adds the burden of extra cost of criminal justice, labour and employment to society.

USEFUL TIPS!

Hopefully, you are not the victim battering. How to handle your husband if he beats you more or less frequently? In case you face such unwanted situations, some remedial measures are suggested here that might help you. When your husband beats you for the first time, take it very seriously.

If you kept quiet, it will happen again and again. So it is better to take all possible measures during the first episode of battering.

First of all, clearly point out to him that he is actually doing wrong and it will undoubtedly have an adverse impact on your relationship and the upbringing of your children. Men are more likely than women to be victimised by a stranger or casual acquaintance.

On the other hand, women are more likely than men to be victimised by family members or spouses. The fact that women are often emotionally involved and financially dependent upon those who batter them has pronounced implications on how they handle battering.

Men are generally poor mindreaders. They are generally not as sensitive and emotional as women are. So, be straight and talk openly about what hurts you. Men, by nature, are direct and don’t understand hints. Remember, men evolved by hunting animals and fighting enemies, not trying to understand them or be sensitive to their emotions. Thus, by nature, they are hard and tough. Various useful tips to tackle the problem of battering are listed below:

# If husband is angry, do not argue or fight with him. At the same time, do not fear from inside because fear will show your weakness, which would give your husband an opportunity to dominate you further. For instance, if you have broken some household item, politely say sorry or change the topic in order to divert his mind and talk in a friendly mood. Make him understand that you are not so weak and you are tolerating his anger for the sake of the family and respect the relationship; otherwise there would be plenty of problems and difficulties in your lives.

He may feel sorry after that. Tell him that the time once gone will never come back; so you both should enjoy life happily without unnecessary quarrels and arguments. Tell him in such a way that he understands the issues clearly and realises their importance.

# Be open with your husband and avoid doing things which he doesn’t like. Do not try to raise arguments and fights. With a humble and polite approach, you can easily win the situation, which is otherwise going against you. Even if you have to tolerate his unnecessary arguments and anger, there is no harm in doing so on certain occasions.

After all, marriage is a mutual understanding, but make sure that you are not submitting too often and it is not one-sided. Getting respect and recognition is, to a large extent, in your hands. Perhaps, someday, he will also adjust to your temperament. Take care of his meals and try not to give him chance to fight. Be an ideal homemaker.

It is very easy to make your husband happy; give him delicious food, take care of his health, prepare lunch in time and send him to office in a good mood. When he comes back from his office, offer him a cup of tea or coffee with a smiling face, discuss what happened throughout the day, wear attractive clothing and keep yourself looking good with make-up.

# If your husband is abusive and still beating you even after trying all the tricks, ask him about his problem and why he is doing so. Try to find the cause and analyse the situation, and see whether the problem of battering can be tackled. Convince him that battering didn’t improve the family life in a single home; by battering, nobody can discipline his wife.

If a husband constantly batters, things only get worse, which include breaking the relationship, slapping back, insult in society, extramarital relationships, etc. Finally, ask him to remain calm, without anger for a few days and see the difference in the family atmosphere.

# Sometimes, some husbands abuse and beat up their wives in front of friends and family members. In this situation, try to curb your anger and do not reply back or fight; otherwise; it will create a scene. Later on, you can talk it over with your husband.

To avoid these situations, be extra careful and tactful, crack some jokes, and project yourself as a pleasant personality. Try to divert the subject or say something in such a way that the atmosphere is not ruined. This will reflect your wisdom and capacity to handle difficult situations diplomatically.

# Keep a good friends’ circle, make good relations with neighbours, family members and relatives so that they can intervene if you are in a difficult situation through battering or otherwise. If your husband is short-tempered, help him to control his anger by suggesting that he practise yoga and meditation.

# Education is a must for every woman, as it increases her self-confidence and sense of financial independence from her husband. Moreover, education broadens her mind and increases its capacity to handle difficult situations besides helping her in bringing up the children.

# Be empowered with knowledge of the laws. Make your husband aware that you know all the laws related to woman abuse so that he does not take you as being ignorant (of course, not in a threatening way!). With this, your husband will think twice before battering.

Consult a lawyer if things go out of your hand so that you can face the situation bravely. Give your husband a final chance by reminding him that a relationship once broken cannot be built back. If he is not in a mood to compromise, then be confident to teach him a good lesson. Set an example before society so that no husband takes wife battering for granted.

In anticipation for your happily married life, final words of advice: “A wise woman is one who keeps her husband under control and, at the same time, remains in his control.”
