I ate a lot of salads, vegies, some fruit, red meat. I ate very small meals when i was hungry and was careful not to over eat or give into temptation. i gained 20lbs with 5 to loose after birth which I think was all in my boobs and my baby was great and healthy and she has a healthy appetite now.
References :
You should never "diet" during pregnancy. This is not a time to try to lose weight or keep your figure. You can worry about that after the baby is born. You should, however, it a balanced diet.
References :
My diet didn't change radically except in the first trimester I felt very differently about food + found some things really nauseating like broccoli + mushrooms. Also some meats were off putting too. I guess being pregnant made me conscious to be healthier + a friend who is a nutritionist advised me to take complex supplements (Jarrow Pregnatal + DHA) as the growing baby is greedy on your body for taking what it needs from you. The supplements were a back up particularly for iron + the omega oils which could be tricky to get + absorb in high enough supply on diet alone. I drank a lot of water as one can often mistake thirst for hunger and I think this aspect minimised heavy weight gain during the pregnancy - aside from healthy pregnancy caused lbs. (I have returned to my original weight very fast.) My baby girl was born just shy of 8lb, healthy and lovely. I hope something here is useful to you + good luck.
References :
I ate a lot (portion wise) and I ate often. But I try to eat healthy things and absolutely avoided anything that has preservatives (like lunch meats). I could have eaten a lot healthier though.

My son was born very big and very healthy. He didn't get his first cold up until he was 10 months old and even then, he shook it off in 2 days.
References :
I ate very healthy throughout my entire pregnancy. Lots of veggies and fruit. I craved mexican so I did eat tacos often but with little meat and lots of lettuce, tomatoes and sauce. I gained 17 lbs, my baby was born 2 weeks early and she weighed 6 lbs 13.5 oz and was 21 in long. she was healthy and still is. I lost all my pregnancy weight (plus some) by the time she was 2 months old.
References :
I didn't diet during pregnancy. I did, however, ate very, very well...veggies, protein and of course fruits. Don't forget you can workout (to a min. if your not high risk) and you don't need to eat for two (It's an excuse!)....ask your doctor for ways to help, they have great ideas and there are local Mommy Classes you can find too if you need motivation. GL and enjoy your pregnancy!- It's the last time you will do anything on your own terms again! LOL.
References :
I ate like a pig. My baby was as healthy as a horse. I gained 30lbs and she weighed 6lbs 13oz. Not the 9lbs I expected after all I ate, especially in my final trimester. Just always take your prenatal vitamins and let your doctor know what foods you are eating. There are some you really shouldn't consume.
